Description

Bart Wallet is professor of early modern and modern Jewish history at the Middle Eastern Studies: Hebrew and Jewish Studies department of the University of Amsterdam.

His field of specialization is Jewish history, in particular early modern and modern Dutch Jewry. His research includes early modern Yiddish historiography, policies of integrating Jews into Dutch society, Jewish funerary culture, postwar reconstruction of Dutch Jewry, and the use and transformation of the genres of lukhot (Yiddish-Hebrew almanacs), sidurim and makhzorim (prayerbooks) in the early modern and modern periods.
