Description
My research focus is on Modern European history, more specifically social and cultural history, and Jewish history in the late 19th century. In my doctoral dissertation I studied the specific processes which enabled the establishment of a permanent symphony orchestra and a purpose-built concert hall in Stockholm, 1890s-1926. I have also done research in the field of elite philanthropy. and in my on-going project I am studying Jewish economic activity in Stockholm from 1860s-1920s, with a focus on Jews\' donations to the establishment of public institutions of prestige. I am also interested in the tension between the city and the countryside; in the way of life of the Jewish bourgeoisie. Right now I am undertaking pioneer research about Jewish country houses in Sweden.
