Description

I graduated (BA and MA) in the field of Modern Hebrew Language and Literature at the Ca\' Foscari University of Venice. The study of literature produced by Israeli authors of Middle Eastern origin, lead me to become interested in the history, culture and social life of Jews in Arab-Muslim countries in the 20th century. As a result of this interest, I embarked in a PhD research on memories and identities of Jews from LIbya between Israel and Italy (from 1948 to present). I did my doctorate as a co-tutorship between the University of Venice and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Toulouse. I hold a PhD in Languages and cultures of Asia and North Africa (University of Venice) and in Social and Historical Anthropology (EHESS). I currently hold a position as post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Jewish Studies of the University of Graz where I am continuing my research about Jewish migrations from Arab-Muslim countries to Europe and their impact on contemporary European Jewry.
