Main research activities
The new section of Jewish and Sephardic studies was born out of a growing need in the Spanish and European academic sphere for teaching and researching the medieval past, in everything that concerns the relations between Jewish, Christian and Muslim society. These relationships occupied an influential place in the formation of philosophical and religious thought, literature, the development of medicine and science, as well as in political and ideological issues of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Despite its importance in the studies of history, philosophy, philology, translation, literature, sociology, etc., until today this field has always remained in the "esoteric margins" of research due to political and physical circumstances. that did not allow the adequate volume of activity.
The "YhaLy- Yehuda Ha-Levy" section of the UAH "IUI Miguel de Cervantes” is designated as a central objective to respond to the aforementioned questions through a series of activities that will be developed within its framework:
HeMeT: Hebrew Medieval Translations. Database and research project .
Translation and scientific editing of original Jewish works of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in Hebrew and Judeo-Spanish. (Publication in paper and electronic format on the DHuMaR portal).
