The Association has organised eleven international congresses since it was founded in 1981. These are now held every four years. In the intervening years, the Association has supported colloquia in different venues in Europe under the auspices of two separate programmes, the EAJS Programme in European Jewish Studies and the EAJS Conference Grant Programme in European Jewish Studies, on a range of subjects with smaller invited groups of scholars.
Both programmes have had the same purpose: to foster cooperation among scholars involved in Jewish Studies across Europe, and to support early career researchers in this field to develop a professional network.
Calls for Submissions are usually issued in January/February for the Conference Grant Programme in European Jewish Studies.
