Payment Methods

Once your membership application has been approved by the EAJS Executive Committee, you will be able to login to the website and pay your membership fee securely online.

Please note that our membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Payments during a membership year will be assigned to that membership year unless the member is in arrears for previous years or is already fully paid up for that year. Members who are already fully paid up for the year that a membership payment is received will be credited for the following year. For members that are in arrears for more than 1 year, a payment for the current membership year and the previous membership year (i.e. a payment for 2 years of membership) will be considered sufficient to clear all prior arrears and return the membership to active good standing for the current year. New members who apply to join on or after 1 July of a membership year will pay their annual subscription upon joining, but it will be credited to the following year with the current year being waived.

Annual Membership Subscription Payments

Annual membership payments should be made using our secure online payment facility which accepts debit and credit cards and is processed by WorldPay.

When you log in to the EAJS website, you will have the option of being directed to the subscription payment page operated by WorldPay. Alternatively, you can use the following link: Membership Subscriptions and Miscellaneous Payments

If payment is not made by the due date, then your access to the members’ pages on the website will be suspended. You will need to renew your subscription to reactivate your access.

Members are urged to use the online payment system. If you do not wish to use the online payment facility then your annual membership subscription may be paid by Sterling Cheque or Sterling Postal Order (the steps for which can be found below).

Steps for Membership Payment by Sterling Cheque or Postal Order:

1. Please print and complete the following form: Form for Membership Subscription by Sterling Cheque

2. Please make sterling cheques or postal orders (i.e. cheques or postal orders drawn in GBP) payable to: “European Association for Jewish Studies”. Please note that our bankers have informed us that they will not accept payments made to “EAJS”. The full name of the Association must be used.

3. Please send the completed form and the cheque in the post to the following address (and contact the EAJS Administrator to let him know this has been done): EAJS Administrator, European Association for Jewish Studies, Clarendon Institute Building, Walton Street, Oxford OX1 2HG, UK.

When the cheque or postal order has been received, we will send you an email to let you know as soon as practical. Please note that there may be a significant delay in processing your cheque or postal order as the EAJS Administrator does not attend the EAJS office every day (and thus there may be a delay in receiving your cheque) and also does not make regular visits to the bank to deposit cheques. We thus strongly encourage members to pay their membership subscriptions online whenever possible.

Miscellaneous Payments

You can pay online for miscellaneous payments, such as arrears payments. Please click here to make a miscellaneous payment online.

Russian Invasion of Ukraine

The EAJS condemns Russia’s unprecedented and barbaric aggression against Ukraine. We express solidarity with Ukraine, with its democratically-elected government and with its people. All Ukrainian academics and university students are in our thoughts and prayers. [Link for longer version of statement and resources]
