Funding objective / Areas of interest: Institute dedicated to investigating the causes, implementation, impact of the genocide against the Jews, as well as other groups that the Nazis viewed as racial and biological enemies. Specifically the center focuses on the origins and formation of the Holocaust with respect to the Viennese and Austrian contexts. The institute also seeks to apply these research findings beyond Austria, and to try to play a meaningful role in public awareness, and with this contribute to the fight against indifference toward similar crimes against humanity. Institute has a particular interest in generating historical knowledge and awareness of these events in the younger generation, as it will help to shape their political and moral consciousness, instil a sense of responsibility for their own political community, and strengthen and establish their personal civil courage.
