Funding objective / Areas of interest: The principal objective of the Foundation is the general advancement of such Jewish and other charitable purposes, as the Trustees, in their absolute discretion, think fit. Specifically, the objectives are to support the arts and education projects and to establish and endow scholarships, fellowships, professional chairs, prizes and awards. The Foundation`s activities fall into two parts: grants awarded by the Trustees to bodies with appropriate charitable objectives and scholarships awarded to individuals selected by an interview panel (see separate funder entry for Wingate Scholarships).

Eligibility criteria: Applications by organisations which award scholarships or bursaries are eligible and will be considered.
Exclusions / restrictions: The Trustees do not normally consider donations to the general funds of large charitable bodies or to projects which ought, in their opinion, to be able to attract sponsorship from commercial sources.
Example grants: Grants in the area of “Jewish Life & Learning” included: Oxford Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies: Renewed long term support with a grant of £20,000 p.a. for three years towards the appointment of a Senior Fellowship, particularly to fund a post in Muslim-Jewish relations; The Centre for Jewish-Christian Relations: Innovative scholarship and interfaith thinking in the UK and Europe – agreed to grant £13,567 p.a. for three years to enable the Centre to expand the interactive nature of the Distance Learning Programme; Institute of Jewish Studies (£10,000);
