Funding objective / Areas of interest: The Foundation supports research projects, designing or purchase of research software, fieldwork, and restoration work in all areas of Humanities Studies and runs annual grant competitions.

There are six areas of interest that the Foundation supports:
History, Archeology, Ethnography
Economics
Philosophy, Sociology, Political Sciences, Law, History of Science
Philology, Art History
Complex Human Studies, Psychology, Pedagogy, Social problems of health and ecology of humans
Global Issues and International Relationships

The Foundation also runs international competitions, for Russian residents who work in cooperation with international partners. Previously, joint competitions with partners from France and Germany were announced.
Type of funding available: General competition:

A-Type project: Individual or Group of up to 10 researchers for 1-3 years
B-Type project: Designing or purchase of Software to enable Humanities Research for individual researchers or groups of up to 10 researchers
C-Type project: Organisation of Academic events, including conferences and workshops
D-Type project – Publishing of the outcomes of the funded Research Project carried out over one year
D1-Type project – Publishing of the outcomes of the funded Research Project carried out over two years
E-Type project – Fieldwork, Surveys and Restoration work

Young Scholars Competition:

A1-Type project: Group up to 9 young scholars supervised by a holder of a “Doktorskaya” degree.
A2-Type project: Group up to 10 young scholars in which the head is also a young scholar
C1-Type project: Organisation of Academic events for young scholars, including conferences and workshops

Beneficiary type:
Eligibility criteria: Permanent residents of Russia and scholars working in Russia
Exclusions / restrictions: Studies have to be in Russian language. A leading investigator cannot work on more than three funded projects of different types in one year.

Research projects already funded from the Federal Budget are not eligible.

Textbooks, Manuals, Journals and Publication of previously published works are not eligible for Publication Competitions
