Funding objective / Areas of interest: The Polish-German Foundation for Science supports research projects in humanities, cultural studies, law, economy, and social sciences which are realized in collaboration of Polish and German students and academics. The Foundation financially supports research projects, academic conferences and offers fellowships. Current topical priorities are: the process of Europeization, transfers of knowledge and culture, multilingualism and the change of norms and values.
Type of funding available: The Foundation offers two funding programs: the main competition for projects requesting more than 10 000 EUR and the simplified competition for projects in need of less than 10 000 EUR.
Beneficiary type:
Eligibility criteria: The primacy is given to projects concerning contemporary Polish-German relations in the European context, but historical projects, as well as projects on ethnic and religious minorities fitting within that thematic framework are eligible for support. All projects must be realized in cooperation between Polish and German partners. In exceptional circumstances the Foundation is willing to support projects which do not meet the above criteria.
Exclusions / restrictions:
Example grants: Information about past Jewish Studies projects is not available.
Application guidelines: Applications need to be submitted using downloadable forms available at the Foundation’s website. The budget (MS Excel format) and the research project (MS Word format) must be sent to directly to the Foundation’s programme officer, Daria Mudzo-Wieloch. A printed signature form with confirmations of participating institutions must be sent directly to the Foundation’s office. In exceptional circumstances the signature form can be faxed.
The main grant competition is organized annually with the typical application deadline in October. The simplified competition is organized biannually, with deadlines usually in April and November.
The application documents must be filled in either in Polish or in German.
