Funding objective / Areas of interest: Educational and Cultural Foundation which works to support higher education and build a civil society in the Czech and Slovak Republics. There are two programmes: 1. Programme for Development of Higher Education
The programme for support and development of higher education has been the basis of the Jan Hus Educational Foundation‘s activities since the establishment of the Foundation. Within higher education development the Cursus Innovati is applicable. It is a long-term programme of support for innovation, teaching and research of non-applied subjects in the fields of the humanities, social sciences and related sciences.
The main goals:
• development of higher education in the fields of humanities and social sciences
• development of the educational system by means of qualitative changes in teaching
• preparation of a new generation of teachers at all stages of the educational system
• development of long-lasting international academic co-operation

2. Jan Hus Educational Foundation Scholarship
Jan Hus Educational Scholarship is a new programme aiming to support young university lecturers and doctoral students in the fields of the humanities and social sciences.
Type of funding available: Research Projects; Scholarships; Papers and Publications.
Beneficiary type:
Eligibility criteria: Resident in Slovak Republic.

Example grants: Research and study projects previously supported under the Higher Education Development Programme (grants are in SKK): Slovak Academy of Science, Institute of History, Bratislava: History of Propaganda in the 20th Century//Two Generations Back; Social History 1930-1990 (SKK70.000); Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University, Bratislava: Non-Peasant Family Forms in Slovakia (SKK97.000); Department of Philosophy and History of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University, Bratislava: Ancient Philosophy by Studying of Sources: Innovation of Curriculums of Philosophy, Ethics and Classical Studies (SKK68.250); Department of Languagues and Cultures of East Asia Countries, Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University, Bratislava: Politics and Religion in Asia: Past and Present of Their Mutual Relations (SKK50.000). Jan Hus Educational Scholarships for academic year 2006/2007 were awarded to teachers in the Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University, Bratislava, in the following departments: Sociology; Philosophy and History of Philosophy; Comparative Religion; Political Science; German Studies. In 2004 The Foundation sponsored a paper about Slovak Jewish Heritage and Slovak Synagogue Architecture, presented at a conference in Prague on `The Future of Jewish Heritage in Europe: An International Conference`.
