Funding objective / Areas of interest: Jan Hus Educational Foundation is an international, non-political, non-denominational, educational and cultural foundation. It supports projects in secondary and higher education in humanities and social sciences. The Foundation is particularly concerned with strengthening the freedom of academic research and education and supporting projects which do not squarely fit into the narrow framework of standard academic research and thus require external financial support.
Type of funding available: The Foundation offers research funding to Czech and Slovak students and researchers. Jan Hus Foundation Grants are aimed at established academics and teachers, while Jan Hus Foundation Stipends are meant to support doctoral students and early career scholars. The Foundation supports research in non-applied humanities, social sciences and related fields.

Application guidelines: The usual deadline for applications is in in the end of June of a given year and the results are announced in mid-November. Researchers will be required to submit a detailed report summarizing the research supported by the Foundation by the end of the following year. Researchers will be expected to account for their research expenses.

Applications need to be submitted using web form available at: http://www.vnjh.cz/grant-husovy-nadace/prihlaska/
You will be asked to include a research proposal of no more than 5 sides of A4 (in pdf format). The proposal must include detailed rationale for carrying out the research, project schedule, and budget.
Researchers are allowed to submit copies of additional supportive documents at their discretion. These additional documents max exceed the above page limit.
2. Jan Hus Foundation Stipends
Applications need to be submitted using web form available at: http://www.vnjh.cz/stipendium-husovy-nadace/prihlaska/
In addition to basic information submitted via a web form, applicants must submit an attachment (in one PDF file, of no more than 3 pages) including the following:
1. Brief Biography
2. Description of the position of the applicant and his life and professional plans
3. Explanation of how the stipend will help the applicant to engage free and undisturbed research
Furthermore, the applicants may include: (in other documents exceeding the page limit):
4. List of publications
5. A list of self-published, unpublished, but publishable work
6. Informal characteristics of applicants written by their colleagues
7. Recommendation from their academic institution
8. The letter of consent from the host institution (acceptance certificate) if travelling abroad
9. Other annexes at the discretion of the candidate.

Additional information: The Foundation used to have a UK office, but this has now closed, and all applications and administration are undertaken via the Czech and Slovak offices.
