The 2019-2020 One-Year Jewish Studies Program at Paideia
The 2019-2020 One-Year Jewish Studies Program at Paideia – The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden is now open for applications
Paideia is a European academic Institute founded in 2000 with the mandate to nurture the renewal of European Jewish culture, to support cross-cultural dialogue, and to promot a positive paradigm of a minority culture within European societies. Paideia does this through highly intensive educational leadership program, focusing on in-depth knowledge of Jewish sources and on social innovation.
The program offers a unique international Jewish studies experience during eight months in Stockholm with the possibility of completing a 120 ECTS Master in Jewish Civilizations at the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien in Heidelberg, Germany. It combines traditional Hevruta study methodology, an academic approach to interpretation and practical application, and includes intensive text studies running chronologically from Torah and Midrash, through Medieval Jewish Philosophy and Responsa Literature to Modern Jewish Philosophy and Literature, language studies (Modern Hebrew at three levels), as well as a three-week trip to Israel, including studies at Yad Vashem and at the National Library of Israel.
The studies are tuition free and students are eligible for scholarships towards accommodation and living costs.
