Post-doc position (80-100%) in “Jewish Studies, Ecology and Sustainability”

The Institute of Jewish Studies at the University of Bern invites applications for a new post-doc position, limited to two years, in “Jewish Studies, Ecology and Sustainability”. The post-doc fellow is expected to pursue a research project related to the place and relevance of sustainability and ecology in Judaism, teach 1-2 classes on related topics per year (depending on experience) as well as participate in the programs of the institute and in outreach. Post-doc positions at the University of Bern are guaranteed 50% of protected research time.
Requirements: The successful candidate holds a PhD in Jewish Studies, History, Religious Studies, or an affiliated field. Evidence of successful research related to sustainability and ecology in the context of Judaism.
We offer: Starting date no later than February 1, 2021. A small, but dedicated team of scholars working in various areas of Jewish Studies. Salary (100%) starts at CHF 87’925.50 (Early PostDoc) and CHF 99’648.90 (Advanced PostDoc) per annum. Employment conditions in accordance with the Canton of Bern guidelines. A work space will be provided.
