The EAJS Executive Committee looks forward to the 11th EAJS Congress, to be held in Kraków, 15-19 July 2018. The organisers have accepted over nine hundred paper proposals, making this event the largest EAJS Congress ever. The EAJS Executive Committee is grateful to the Association’s president, Professor Edward Dąbrowa, and his colleagues from the Jewish Studies Institute at the Jagiellonian University, for their exemplary effort to make this event a success.
It wishes to emphasise that the EAJS Congress is an independent academic endeavour made possible by its members and the Congress speakers, and it gratefully acknowledges the strong support from the Jagiellonian University and the City of Kraków.
The EAJS Executive Committee also wishes to express its support for the concerns voiced jointly by our colleagues in the Polish Association for Jewish Studies and the Polish Association for Yiddish Studies in an open letter of 3 February 2018, to the President of the Republic of Poland, concerning the recent legislation on the Institute for National Remembrance, published in English translation on the EAJS webpage.
The EAJS Executive Committee looks forward to the Congress. It will provide a unique opportunity for academic debate and networking. It will reflect the vitality of our discipline across Europe, not in the least in Poland. This is the time to come to Poland.
