From October 28 to 31, the Taube Department of Jewish Studies hosted an international mapping workshop organized by the Digital Forum of the European Association of Jewish Studies. The event was coordinated by a team consisting of Prof. Bart Wallet, Dr. Oleksii Chebotarov, Prof. Marcin Wodziński, and Anna Zabraniak. The workshop was intended for young researchers from European centers engaged in a broad field of Jewish studies. The primary objective was to equip participants with the skills to navigate QGIS (Quantum Geographic Information System), an open-source software tailored for handling geospatial data.
Beyond software training, participants attended presentations and discussions on the place of Jewish studies within the evolving landscape of digital humanities. Moreover, they were collectively strategizing the future enhancement of competencies in this field.
