Polin: Studies in Polish Jewry to be published as a journal for the Institute for Polish-Jewish Studies (IPJS) and the American Association for Polish-Jewish Studies (AAPJS) by the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, in association with Liverpool University Press (LUP), from 2025.
We are delighted to announce that from 2025 the long-standing book series Polin: Studies in Polish Jewry will be published as a journal for the Institute for Polish-Jewish Studies (IPJS) and the American Association for Polish-Jewish Studies (AAPJS) by the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, in association with Liverpool University Press (LUP).
Established in 1986 by the Institute for Polish-Jewish Studies, Polin has acquired a well-deserved reputation for publishing authoritative material on all aspects of Polish Jewry. Contributions are drawn from many disciplines — history, politics, religious studies, literature, linguistics, sociology, art, and architecture — and from a wide variety of viewpoints.
Under an editorial collegium headed by Antony Polonsky and François Guesnet, the journal will be published annually, with the first issue appearing in early 2025. It will serve as the premier journal on east European Jewish studies.
The complete archive of Polin, which dates back to 1986, will be available online to subscribing institutions for the first time, as well as perpetual access for the years purchased.

Antony Polonsky and François Guesnet, co-chairs of the Polin editorial collegium, welcome this development:
‘We are very happy that Polin will now be published as a journal. This allows for easier access to recent state-of-the art research and informed debate on the complex history of the Jews of east-central Europe at a time when it is urgently needed. We are grateful to the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization and Liverpool University Press for their continuing partnership with us.’
Clare Hooper, Director of Journals Publishing at LUP, comments:
‘We are delighted to be working in association with the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization to publish Polin as a journal for the IPJS and the AAPJS in 2025. We know that scholars of east European Jewish studies will continue to find the journal an extremely valuable resource.’
