Call for papers: “Studying Hebrew in Sixteenth-Century Strasbourg” (EAJS Conference), 16-17 June 2025, University of Strasbourg
An international conference on Christian Hebraism in Strasbourg during the sixteenth century will take place at the University of Strasbourg on 16–17 June 2025. The aim of the conference is to examine the formative years of Christian Hebraism in Strasbourg – starting with the first Christian scholars to study Hebrew in the early sixteenth century within the context of Humanism and the Reformation, and until the institutionalization of Hebrew scholarship and teaching in Strasbourg in the second half of the century.
Scholars wishing to present papers on the work of sixteenth-century Strasbourg Hebraists or on other relevant topics are most welcome to join. Please write to Eran Shuali: shuali@unistra.fr

The conference is funded by the European Association for Jewish Studies and by the research unit UR 4378 Protestant Theology at the University of Strasbourg.
