Description
Dr Alinda Damsma joined the College in 2012, and she teaches Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic and Jewish mysticism. She received her Bachelor and Master of Divinity (with highest honours) from the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (2003) and her PhD from the department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies, University College London (2008). Her past publications focused on Aramaic, the Targums, and Jewish mysticism, including her monograph The Targumic Toseftot to Ezekiel (Leiden: Brill Academic Publishers, 2012). She is currently working on two monographs: a grammar of the Zohar, and a study on the perception of witchcraft in the King James Version. Her research interests are the Hebrew Bible, Bible translations, Semitics (specifically Classical Hebrew and Aramaic), Jewish mysticism, and magic and witchcraft in biblical & post-biblical times.
