Main research activities
The area of study at the Institute of the Middle and Far East covers the culture, social relations, traditions, political practice, religions and customs of the Middle and Far East countries. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding and learning about current events in the region. This type of studies, known as area studies, is particularly popular in Western Europe and the United States of America - and so far has not been fully represented in universities in Poland.
Until 2019, the Institute of the Middle and Far East was educating in the field of: Asian studies and in two different specialties: Middle Eastern studies and Far Eastern studies at the 1st and 2nd degree levels (bachelor's and supplementary master's degrees) mainly on a full-time basis. First-cycle studies, major: Asian studies, specialization: Far East studies, were additionally divided into modules, i.e. Japan, China, Korea, India and South Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia.
