Main research activities
Hebrew Bible taught as Old Testament Studies: The task and aim of this subject is to introduce students to both classic introductory questions and the exegesis of the Old Testament in order to enable them to deal appropriately with Old Testament literature.
Particular attention is paid to the study of the history of Israel, which is a prerequisite for a historical-critical exegesis of texts.
Within exegesis, on the other hand, the focus is on working out the theologies on which the texts are based using synchronous and diachronic methods.
In order to enable the students to study the Hebrew Bible in depth and in depth, courses and exercises in ancient oriental and semitic languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac) of various levels of difficulty are offered alternately.
