Main research activities
• The principal goals of the Center “Sefer” are as follows:
to monitor the whole situation with the Institutions of Higher Jewish learnings in FSU, to create a Data Base combining all kind of data on the subject (has been prepared in December 1995);
to promote coordination between institutions in order to unite them in a single network;
to contact every Judaica teacher or scholar in order to involve them in joint activities and assist them in their work;
to promote development and increase of Jewish studies and teaching in FSU by the following means:
organization of an annual conference;
organization of seminars and workshops, both in Moscow and outside on different aspects of Judaica studies and teaching;
mentoring of faculty from different institutions in order to increase their knowledge and help them with their academic courses;
promoting visits by the lecturing tours by eminent scholars from outside of FSU;
promoting visits by lecturers from leading institutions to peripheral ones - to improve Jewish knowledge there;
assistance in the preparation and publication of text-books, methodical and other literature necessary for Jewish studies and education;
organization of meetings, consultations etc for Judaica experts and teachers visiting Moscow;
setting up of Judaica library at the “Sefer”;
