European Association for Jewish Studies

EAJS: Become a member

Membership Application

Should you wish to join EAJS, please fill in the application form on this website. The link is below.

Membership of the Association is open to all with an active scholarly interest in Jewish studies. The Association is a voluntary academic body whose Constitution requests that applications for membership must be supported by two referees in the field of Jewish studies familiar with your work. To join EAJS please fill in this form. Please ask your referees to write directly to the Secretariat in support of your application. (For students unable to name two referees, one will be sufficient.)

Full membership is open to scholars resident in Europe, associate membership is open to those not resident in Europe, and student membership is open to those engaged as graduate students in Jewish studies at a European university. Membership fees from 2011 will be £25.00 p.a. for Full and Associate Members, and free for Student Members. Student members are required to confirm in writing by 15 February of each year to the Secretariat the continuation of their student status and their interest in retaining membership of the Association.

Full and Associate Membership of the EAJS includes a free subscription to the online version of the European Journal of Jewish Studies. Full and associate members must be completely up to date with their payment of fees in order to receive their free copy of the Journal. Student membership may include a subscription to the Journal for a fee of £15 per annum. Students that pay this fee will retain the status of ‘student member’. Details of the journal are found here.

How to join
You should complete the Application Form and send it via the website here, and ask two referees to write letters in support of your application. These letters should be sent by email to the Administrator of the EAJS, at the address admin@eurojewishstudies.org. Once your completed application form and your referees’ letters have been received, they will be forwarded to the EAJS Executive Committee for a decision. You will then be advised of the success of your application, and a subscription form will be sent to you for payment.
